Based on a recognised and proven scientific methodology and approach currently adopted by over 15 different industries to stay competitive in the market for the past 3 decades. Never before, has it been applied and translated to and for individuals for personal development in ALL aspects of one’s life. Instead of achieving quality of outputs in terms of products and services by organisations, it helps individuals achieve quality outputs in their daily living specifically at home, in health, when travelling and at work.
The reader will not only view the majority of aspects in life we see as chores differently but will become equipped with the correct tools and knowledge to reduce their stresses and become more effective and efficient human beings each and every day by taking the lean approach. This book allows the reader to gain an advantage on the day and subtly changes the thought process when it comes to aspects of life we rarely consider doing differently or perhaps did not even think we could change simultaneously closing down bad habits and creating good ones.
Focusing on home, health, travel and work, there is undoubtedly valuable information and tips to be had from this book that will change how you perceive your time making sure you get the most done in as little time and effort as possible. Along with essential reading, the book provides perfectly placed illustrations to complement its priceless advice.
The writer initially takes you through a process to understand how and why we should make daily changes to become lean in everything of importance to us and then how to implement these with very positive results. Each focus area is systematically broken down analysed and evaluated, then supported with real life examples to make sure this hits home with the reader.
This book is an essential read for everyone! Who wouldn’t want to rationalise their life, freeing up more time to do the most important and enjoyable things to them? Identifying and then creating opportunities to become well balanced and generally happier is the ultimate outcome from this book
As individuals, we all have different value systems & different ideas of what value means to us. Being lean, I’ve come across different people with different views of what is worth the effort or not. Here is a little activity I thought will be fun to see how Lean or Mean our community can be! Go on & have a view. Do you think the activities are Being Lean or Mean?!

The book focuses on 4 main areas of your lifestyle and looks at tried and tested lean methods with practical activities to help you achieve better day-to-day processes, while removing stress and improving your work/life balance.

Download NowBeing Lean isn’t about going-it-alone. The resources, knowledge and process changes out there are limitless. The book, Being Lean, is hopefully a kick-starter to inspire others to make a positive change. But I don’t claim to know everything and despite making huge changes to my life already, I recognise that there’s always more to be done – always more waste to cut out. My dream is to generate a Lean culture filled with people who always strive for that little extra.
The Lean Exchange has been placed here specifically to encourage you to share and expand on your Lean knowledge and experiences and help nurture a Lean community of like-minded people who are hungry for a lifestyle change. Being Lean is a niche concept that should be encouraged and developed into an inclusive and supportive culture so that others all over the world can reap the benefits.
The Lean Exchange is your chance to ‘pay it forward’ and help others to achieve that unique Lean perspective through a supportive, open and welcoming platform to discuss and move forward together. The more people we talk to, the stronger we become. Open a thread or talk to other Lean thinkers to share your journey or offer your expertise to your next customer.
Healthy competition can work wonders for your motivation. Being Lean isn’t just about making occasional small tweaks to your life, it’s about making permanent changes that give you your time back. It’s a huge step from ‘doing Lean’ – making those small tweaks, to Being Lean – adopting those changes into your everyday lifestyle.
To assist you in taking the next step in your Lean journey, you’ll need all the correct tools to help you put your newfound knowledge into practice – so I thought I’d give you a head start by offering you the chance to win them!
Each month, the website will host a competition to give you the chance to really demonstrate your Lean learning, develop your skills and win some product & services from Being Lean, our Partners and Associates, to give you that extra boost to reach the next level.
Check out our prizes HERE!
COMING SOON! Keep an eye out for Lean competitions here, or on the Being Lean Social Media pages.

Hi, I’m Michelle Leong and I’m a self-confessed Lean fanatic, but only because I’m so focused on doing what makes me happy and living life to the fullest. I am a dedicated Lean practitioner with almost 20 years experience in changing people’s lives and businesses for the better. I was part of the team that introduced lean to the construction industry in a government-funded Construction Lean Improvement Programme (CLIP). I also helped translate and developed the Business Improvement Technique (BIT) NVQ qualification into Construction from the manufacturing industry and hold the highest level in that qualification and am an accredited assessor.
My biggest passion – aside from Lean living of course – is traveling. I’ve travelled to a total of 50 countries and have around 150 cities under my travel belt and, being a massive foodie too, restaurant and cuisine sampling along the way is inevitable & prolific.
I started practicing lean around 20 years ago and since, Being Lean and healthy living is a necessity to fuel my ambitious lifestyle. Over the years I’ve nailed packing lean and maintaining an exercise routine on the go. I’ve found that Being Lean allows me more time for the things that matter including scuba diving. I’ve racked up 450 fair-weather dives with my PADI Advanced Open-Water certification and I’m not finished yet!
Being Lean is an absolute necessity to enable my quality of life. Discovering and practising lean has helped me to live the life I love without compromise and I sincerely hope my book, this website and its resources and community will do the same for you.

Being Lean isn’t about going-it-alone.
