Hi there! I'm Michelle Leong, and I must confess, I'm a self-proclaimed Lean fanatic. But let me clarify something right off the bat—I'm passionate about Lean because it has allowed me to focus on what truly brings me joy and live life to the fullest. For almost two decades, I have dedicated myself to being a Lean practitioner, transforming lives and businesses along the way.
When I'm not immersed in the world of Lean, you'll find me indulging in my other great love—travelling. I've had the incredible opportunity to explore 50 countries, with a whopping 150 cities under my travel belt. And as a huge foodie, it's inevitable that I've savoured the culinary delights of various restaurants and cuisines around the world.
my journey
My journey with Lean began around 20 years ago when I realised that being Lean and embracing a healthy lifestyle were necessary to support my ambitious way of life. Over the years, I've mastered the art of packing lean and maintaining an exercise routine even on the go. Being Lean has allowed me to have more time for the things that truly matter to me, including my passion for scuba diving. With my PADI Advanced Open-Water certification, I've embarked on 500 fair-weather dives, and I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon!
Lean has empowered me
TO LIVE A LIFE I LOVE
For me, Being Lean has become an absolute necessity to enhance my quality of life. Discovering and practising Lean has empowered me to live a life I love, without any compromises. And now, with my book "Being Lean - Achieve a better quality of life", this website, and its accompanying resources and community, I sincerely hope to inspire and guide others to do the same.
Let me share a bit about my background. I started my Lean journey in the construction industry, where I specialised in construction resource efficiency and conducted ground-breaking research on material and environmental waste. This work naturally led me to the revolutionary world of Lean construction. Alongside my colleagues, I introduced Lean practices to the construction industry through a government-funded Construction Lean Improvement Programme (CLIP). I also played a crucial role in translating and developing the Business Improvement Technique (BIT) NVQ qualification for the construction sector, based on the principles borrowed from the manufacturing industry. As an accredited assessor holding the highest level of qualification, I have facilitated over a hundred organisational changes throughout the UK and Europe.
Being a health-conscious and avid traveller, I have seen first-hand how Being Lean has transformed my own life and made space for what truly matters. It is this transformation that I aim to share with readers through my book, website, and resources. I have had the privilege of working with numerous organisations in Lean transformation programs and projects, positively impacting the lives of individuals and businesses alike.
